Ronald "Joe" Browning

Ronald "Joe" Browning, 75, of Harviell passed away peacefully, Monday, February 17, 2014, at Westwood Hills Health Care Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo. Joe was born at home in Hamilton, Ohio on February 2, 1939. Later the family moved to Arizona where Joe graduated from Benson Union High School in Benson, Arizona in 1957. While he was in high school, he was a member of the National Honor Society and lettered in both football and baseball. He graduated from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona 1961 where he achieved a BA Degree with a Major in Sociology and a Minor in Psychology. He received his Elementary School Certification and Master’s Degree in Elementary Education in 1969, from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. After moving to Missouri, Joe obtained certification in Gifted Education and retired from the Greenville School system after 20 years of service. Survivors include Joe’s wife of fifty years, Kathy, of Harviell; his three children, Chad of Poplar Bluff, Jeremy and his wife, Kim, of Russellville, Arkansas, and Esther Lynn Dunn and her husband, Brett, of Winnebago, Illinois; four grandchildren, Amanda and Brittney Browning and Christian and Garrett Dunn; one sister, Delores Clark of Payson, Arizona. His parents, Estel and Gladys Browning, two brothers, and a sister preceded him in death. Mr. Browning enjoyed gardening, crafts and the great outdoors of southern Missouri. He was a past-president of the Poplar Bluff Camp of Gideons International and a member of Westwood Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 22 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Brother Steve Proctor officiating. Burial will be in Kinsey Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent in Joe’s memory to the Poplar Bluff Camp of Gideons International, 935 Mary Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo 63901
