Ruth M. Carl

Ruth M. Carl, age 71, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013 in the Cedargate Nursing Home. Mrs. Carl was born June 27, 1941, in Poplar Bluff, to the late Blake R. and Mary (Timmons) Birdsong. She was a beautician and enjoyed needle point, crochet, and reading. She is survived by her children, Debra Abu-Raqabeh of St. Charles, Mo., Robert Anthony Carl of Sealy, Tx., George A. Carl Jr. ,of Lake Providence, Louisiana, Thomas Carl and Chris Carl, both of Poplar Bluff; three sisters, Anita Birdsong, Alene Sweeza and Janis Birdsong, all of Poplar Bluff; three brothers, Russell Birdsong, Harvielle, Mo., Teddy G. Birdsong and Blake T. Birdsong, both of Poplar Bluff; her grandchildren, Christina Carl, of Poplar Bluff, Anthony Wayne Bales, Ellsinore, Mo., Susan Dorris, St. Charles, Mo., Amber Carl, Poplar Bluff, Christy Francis, Dallas, Tx., and Farrah Carl, of Poplar Bluff. Six great-grandchildren also survive. Also preceding her in death are her sister, Mary Stewart; her brother, Bill Birdsong and one grandson, Samuel Smith. Visitation for Mrs. Carl will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m., at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar, Poplar Bluff, Mo., with the Rev. Keith Luke officiating. Burial in the Black Creek Cemetery.
