Sammy Lee Williams, 71, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away May 2, 2014, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Mr. Williams was born July 6, 1942 to the late Jethrow and Mary Lane-Williams, in Deering, Mo.
Mr. Williams retired as a welder and then sales. He enjoyed photography and was a member of True Believers Missionary Baptist Church. He was also a member of the P. A. L. Athletic Boxing League.
He was married to Marilyn Williams, who preceded him in death on November 18, 1997.
Mr. Williams is survived by his 8 children, Diane Bass (James), Caroline Davis, LaTina Lee (Darnell), Rodney Williams, Charmaine Brown (Willie), Simona Ware (Bobby), Scott Williams and Rochelle Briggs; two sisters June Marie Webb and Dortha Williams; and one brother, Rev. Dr. Johnny Williams; 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Previously he was married to Erma Williams, Benton Harbor, Michigan, who survives.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Coleman.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 10, 2014, followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. The Rev. Dr. Johnny Williams will officiate the services. Burial will be in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
