Sandra Jo Landwersiek (nee Fiske), or as most knew her as "Miss Sandy", gladly met her Savior and LORD on January 26, 2026, at Cedargate Health Care in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She attained the age of 72.
Sandra was born the first daughter of James Columbus Fiske and Georgia Belle Fiske (nee Knott) on August 15, 1953, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She lived her whole life in Poplar Bluff, the sixth generation of some of the first settlers to arrive here. But the Lord allowed her to briefly evangelize in a Communist East European country and walk on the Great Wall of China.
Sandra graduated high school and later Three Rivers Community College by 1973 but did not have the money or time to complete her long held dream to become a teacher. She worked various jobs, mostly as a bookkeeper in businesses and sales representative for a print shop. All the while, she taught Sunday school, Children's Church, vacation Bible school, and various other volunteer situations. When in 1994, she finally graduated SEMO University. She already had over 20 years experience working with children and teaching.
Sandra worked with Sacred Heart School for the next 14 years and 1 year at St. Teresa at Glennonville before retiring. She spent 8 of those years teaching science to the 5th thru 8th grades, which was her fondest time. She also taught at the local SEMO Behavioral Health for several years, which was truly rewarding for her. She continually taught a Sunday school class for children, from 1972 until 2008, then she taught adult classes for nearly 14 years.
Sandra married Randy Hastings in 1973, which ended in divorce 23 years later. But God helped her and in 2000, she married the love of her life, Frederick Landwersiek on April 24, 2000. They shared many happy years serving their blended family.
All the days of her life until her death, she was taking care of one family member or another. She is predeceased by her parents, one sister Diana Fiske, and beloved Aunt Katie Findlay and Uncle Floyd Findlay.
Sandra is survived by her beloved husband Frederick, one sister Teresa Bono and husband Robert of San Antonio, TX, three nieces, Stacy Bono, Ashley Bono, and Kristin Bono of TX and several cousins.
