Shirley Emma Doty,age 68, of Poplar Bluff, passed away Friday, September 21, 2012, at her residence.
Mrs. Doty was born July 8, 1944, in Heflin Alabama. She had lived in Butler County for 53 years. She was a cook for W.E. Sears Youth Center and enjoyed making dolls, collecting butterflies, cooking and crocheting.
On September 30, 1960, she was married to George Doty in Plano, IL. He survives of the home.
She is also survived by her two children, Janice Slavings and George Doty II, both of Poplar Bluff; four sisters, Sue Reynolds of Tucson, Az., Betty Knapton of Salt Lake City, Utah, Dawn Lucas of Washington State and Gail Martin of Nashville, Tn.; one brother, Louis Reynolds of Northern, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Jamey Wawak, Autumn Wawak, Nikita Doty, George R. Doty III, Anastacia R. Doty, Brian Greer, Chastie Slavings and Dakota Slavings; two great-grandchildren; Zoey Wawak and Hermione Wawak
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Reynolds and Sue (Nelson) Reynolds; and one brother, John Reynolds.
Visitation will begin at 1p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012 followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home Poplar Bluff 844 Cedar Street, with the Rev. Jim Hoyt officiating. Burial will be in Three Springs Cemetery.
