Shirley Carlene (Stout) Larmie, 67, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away at her home Saturday, October 31, 2015 after a courageous eight and a half year battle with cancer.
Shirley was born in Mountain View, Mo. on November 29, 1947 to Wilborn "Shorty" Everett Stout and Dorothy Elizabeth (Gower) Stout. She had been a resident of Poplar Bluff since 1951.
She married Robert "Bobby" Larmie on July 12, 1968. He survives.
Shirley was a lifelong member of Bluff City Apostolic Worship Center. She worked for a time at Family Shoe Store, Poplar Bluff Transfer, and Oak Grove School as a teacher's aide. She also babysat, but was predominately a homemaker and kept an immaculate home that was a gathering place for family and friends.
Shirley loved reading, cooking, cross-stitching, working crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family and friends. She loved the fall, trips to the beach and the Smoky Mountains, swimming, playing card games, the St. Louis Cardinals, Vera Bradley purses, decorating her home for the holidays, and watching American Idol and Dancing With The Stars.
She is survived by her mother, Dorothy; her husband, Bobby; her twin sister, Sheila Smith (Cevis); another sister, Valerie Kiefer (Dan); a brother, Darrell Stout (Karen); her daugher, Shelley Mitchell (Corey) and son, Justin Larmie (Crystal); her seven grandchildren, Allison Davis (Michael), Clayton and Skyla Mitchell, Caedyn, Noelle, Lillian, and Jack Larmie; as well as two great-grandchildren, Carly and Avery Davis.
Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Shorty; brothers, David Lee Stout and Nathan Leon Stout; and her daughter, Lisa Renee Larmie.
Services will be held at Bluff City Apostolic Worship Center. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2015. Funeral service will begin at 10 a.m., Wednesday, November 4, 2015, with Pastor Jerry Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Kinsey Cemetery, Harviell, Mo.
