Stella Magill Parrish, 74, of Carterville, Ill., formerly of Poplar Bluff, Mo. passed away at 10:01 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2014 in West Frankfort with her family by her side.
She was born September 18, 1940, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., to Henry and Vada (Hendrix) Magill. She married Tarrell Parrish who preceded her in death on July 2, 1993.
Survivors include a daughter, Jamie Magill Birchfield and husband, Michael of West Frankfort, Ill.; a brother, Jerry Magill and wife, Karen of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; two sisters, Patsy Cardwell of Hot Springs, Ark. and Frances Gower of Poplar Bluff, Mo. as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Jackie Magill and Joy Magill Sr. and by an infant brother, Lonnie Magill.
Stella was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin, Ill. She was a dental assistant for over 40 years for Dr. Post and Dr. Christian in Poplar Bluff and Dr. Beadle in Carbondale, Ill. She loved to go fishing and was a huge St. Cardinals Baseball fan.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, November 30, 2014, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo. Funeral Mass will begin at 11a.m. Monday, December 1, 2014 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Poplar Bluff, with Monsignor Ken Schaefer officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Butler County Mo.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
