Tommie Steward

Tommie Lou Steward, 84, of Poplar Bluff Missouri, passed away on January 1, 2026, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff Missouri.

Tommie Lou was born on May 24, 1941, to Tom and Mary (Johnson) Ross in Portageville, Missouri. She married Nathan (Peter) Steward Sr. in 1964, at Catron Baptist Church.

Tommie Lou became a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1975. She worked several jobs, including taking care of others. She enjoyed reading the Bible, Watchtower, Awake, word puzzles, listening to music, and to cook for her family and friends, she also enjoyed telling stories of her childhood.

Tommie Lou is survived by her seven children, Debra Steward, Tammie Steward, Vickie Tracey, Brenda Steward, Lachelle Steward, Lanonta Davis (James), Nathan Steward Jr, with honorary brother Marcus Steward (grandson). She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren, Marcus Steward, Danielle Steward, Matthew Steward, Aereill Davis, Courtney Franklin, Cortez Franklin Jr., Jasmine Steward, Quinzel Thomas Sr., Shuntae Franklin, Serena Little, Victoria Reed, with 8 great grandchildren. She was also survived by her 2 sisters, Hattie Newsom and Patricia Morris, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Tommie Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Mary Ross, brothers Robert Ross, Earl Ross, Chester Ross, George Ross Arthur L Ross, along with sisters, Ruby Holoman, Rosetta Williams, Mattie Ross, and 2 grandchildren, Courtney Franklin and Matthew Steward.

There will be no visitation except for family, The Service will be at 11:00am on Saturday Jan. 10, 2026, The committal will be at the City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff MO.
