Velta Cox Franklin, 81, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away May 28, 2012 in the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center at Poplar Bluff, Missouri.She was born December 8, 1930 to the late Perry Cox and Hallie Smith Cox.
On January 18, 1960 at Poplar Bluff, Missouri she was married to David Franklin. He survives.
also surviving are her children, Mary Ann Kirkley and husband Mark of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Peggy Sue Green of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, David Cox and wife Debbie of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Bill Cox Sr. and wife Vicki of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and Jerry Franklin ofPoplar Bluff, Missouri. She is also survived by one son-in-law Wayne Sheppard of Harviell, Missouri. Also 27 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren survive.
Velta was preceded in death by one daughter, Rhonda Jean Sheppard on September 26, 2001, on son, Gary Cox, one great granddaughter Aliyah Green one grandson David Dwight Franklin as well as one son-in-law, Donnie Green.
Velta enjoyed quilting, sewing, going to yard sales, gardening and going to Branson. But most of all she deeply loved her family and she always found reasons to celebrate with them. She was a member of the Lone Hill Missionary Baptist Church for 38 years.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday May 30, 2012 in the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel at Neelyville, Missouri with the funeral Thursday May 31, 2012 starting at 10:00 am. Burial will be in the Lone Hill Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Gilbert officiating and Rev Billy Garrett assisting.
