Virginia "Darnell" Tibbs

Virginia Nell "Darnell" Tibbs, 70, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died Monday Oct. 5, 2015 at her home. Mrs. Tibbs was born on March 1, 1945 in Poplar Bluff, Mo. She worked as a legal secretary for Mike Pritchett Law firm. She enjoyed gardening, working with Kerns Chapel, canning, her church and being the church pianist for 40+ years. She was a lifetime member of the Kerns Chapel in Stringtown and was a Sunday school teacher. She was married to Paul Tibbs. He preceded her in death. Survivors include her children, Joey Lutes and wife Tina of Naylor, Mo., Jerry Edmundson and wife Amy of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Mark Jones and wife Elizabeth of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; 2 sisters Lois Gunn and Betty Dillinger; 3 brothers, Willie Darnell, Ted Darnell, and George Darnell; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Harve Lee Darnell and Mattie Mae Hill Darnell and one brother, Robert Darnell. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Fri., Oct. 9, 2015 at the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel in Neelyville. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the Kerns Chapel in Stringtown, with Rev. Jimmy Bruce and Rev. Everett Gunner will be officiating. Burial will be Kearns Chapel Cemetery in Stringtown.
