Warner Sam White, 86 of poplar Bluff, departed this life December 27, 2010 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Visitation will begin at 12:30PM Friday, Dec. 31, 2010 at Green Forest Church of Christ 2535 Township Line Road, Poplar Bluff, MO. Funeral service will begin at 2pm with Rodger Weems and Greg Carman officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Bluff City Cemetery with full military honors at 10AM Monday, January 3, 2011. Mr. White was born August 27, 1924 in Blytheville, Arkansas to the late David Hester White and Stella Martin. He was a member of Green Forest Church of Christ and was a previous elder, deacon and minister in other Church of Christs'. He had served in the Army from 1943-1946. During that time was awarded two bronze stars and a good conduct medal. He was a minister, social worker, and school teacher, as well as many other professions during his lifetime.
He was currently married to Valla Jo Stevenson and she survives. His first wife; Julia Mae White preceded him in death.
He is survived by three daughters: Shirley Tessens and husband Gerard; Jeanette Weems and husband Rodger; Lisa Collins and husband Kenny. Three step-children; Gwen Shanks, Greg Carman, and Brad Carman; a foster son, Guy A. Cox and five grandchildren: Cynthia Bell, Laura Tessens, Dana Tessens, Kenny Collins Jr. and Trevor Collins. Three brothers, Herman White, Roy White, and Henry White. Two sisters, Ethel Black and Snow Griggs. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
