Warren E. "Sonnie" Griffin

Warren E. "Sonnie" Warren Griffin, 77, Rockford, died Thursday, October 28, 2010 in Alpine Fireside Health Center. He was born February 13, 1933 in Palatka, Arkansas, he was the son of Warren and Veda Thompson Griffin. On July 15, 1954 he was married to Neva Black in Palatka, Ark. She preceded him in death on May 22, 2004. He is survived by his children, Gary Griffin and wife Dawn, Teresa and husband John Bolen and Patricia Henthorn and husband Dale. Brothers, Terrill Griffin of Naylor, Mo.and Aubrey Griffin. Sisters , Delores DeHollander and Lil Barnes and Fern Teachout Lillian Braschler. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Juanita. He worked as a foreman in the cotton fields and then went to St.Louis to work for Wagner Electric. A Rockford resident since 1955. He spent 35 years working at National Lock and retired in 1992 after spending 2 years a Elco Industries. A member of U.A.W. #449. Veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. Visitation will be Sunday October 31, 2010 from 2-5 p.m.in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory. Funeral Service will be a 11:00 am Tuesday, November 2, 2010 with a short visitation at 10:00 a.m. just before service. Burial will be in the Black Cemetery near Success, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be may to the family.
