Willie Arthur "Bill" Shipman, of Poplar Bluff passed away Friday, February 10, 2012 at the age of 86.
Mr. Shipman was born May 18, 1925, at Morehouse, Mo. to parents Willie Shipman and Mary (McDowell) Shipman. Both preceded him in death. He was a lifetime resident of Butler County and a member of Faith Tabernacle in Poplar Bluff. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during WWII.
He retired from Ross Electric and enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and going to church.
On Jan. 19, 1957, he was married to Betty Lou (Miller) Shipman in Pocahontas, Ark. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Steve Shipman, Danny Shipman and wife, Margie, Billy Shipman, Timothy Shipman, Teresa and husband, Thomas Victery, Barbara and husband Larry Beebe, all of Poplar Bluff, Rosalee Meadows of Chicago, Ill., Sharon Berg and husband, Greg, of Gresham, Ore.; 14 grandchildren, Tracy and husband, Anthony Swan, Stehpanie Shipman, Brandon McNeil, Danielle Shipman, Joshua Shipman and wife, Amanda, Craig Shipman, Nikki Shipman, Adam Shipman, Timothy Shipman, Kristal King, Cristy Victery, Thomas Victery, Teddy Duncan, Enoch Griffith and Tiffany; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Mary Shipman; two children, Wanda Shipman and Bruce Shipman; two sisters, Iva Jameson and Lucille Rimel; and two brothers, Jack Carl McDowell and Alvin McDowell.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2012 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2012, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor David Tharp officiating. Burial in the Mo. Veterans Cemetery, Bloomfield, Mo., with full Military Honors.
