Zelma Beauton Maddox Thurman

Zelma Beauton Maddox Thurman, 95, of Harviell, Mo., passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Thurman was born on Oct. 8, 1920 in Ridgley, TN. She worked as a homemaker and was a pastor’s wife, serving several area churches in a span of 60 years. She loved her family, feeding birds, squirrels and Ms. Tigger. She attended Independence Missionary Baptist Church. On Oct. 6, 1934 she married Elder H.R Thurman in Hickman, KY. He preceded her in death on June 8, 2003. She is survived by her sons, Ray Thurman of Potosi, MO., Jim Thurman of Jonesboro, AR., and Roy Thurman of Jonesboro, AR.; daughters, Peggy Reinbott of Harviell, MO., Sue Thurman Beller of Harviell, MO., Joy Davis of Jonesboro, AR., Marilyn Lee of Central Point, OR.; 25 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie Maddox and Hester Mae Barber Maddox; her son, Elder Gene Thurman as well as her brothers and sister. Visitation will take place on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the Fowler-Sullivan Memorial Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Funeral will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel with Elder Ray Thurman officiating with Elder Bobby Brooks assisting. Burial will follow at the Antioch Cemetery.
