Anthony Rose was born on August 7, 1961 in Poplar Bluff, Mo, to the late Eddie and Annie Ruth Rose. He was better known by Tony to his family and friends. Early in his childhood the family relocated to Cleveland, OH. Tony was a graduate of Poplar Bluff High School and shortly after graduating he moved back to Cleveland, Ohio where he pursued many of his educational interests such as engineering, mathematics, agriculture, and photography. In his spare time he loved fishing, reading, cooking and creating new recipes for his cookbook, as well as spending time with family and friends. Being a kind and dependable father and grandfather was the utmost importance to Tony Rose, and he certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving all his family and friends. In 2009 Tony moved back home to Poplar Bluff Missouri to help care for his ailing brother. Upon moving back, he worked for the Poplar Bluff School District for several years. Tony also was an active member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church until his health declined. Tony was a fighter until the end, he fought the battle against cancer for more than 2 years until God called him home. Tony departed this life on April 2, 2021 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Preceding him in death were his parents Eddie and Annie Ruth Rose; one sister, Virginia Clay; two brothers, Vertis Rose, James “Tuttie” Hayes; and one brother in law, James Brewer He is survived by his son Anthony (Jessica) Hawes of Kansas City, MO; two grandchildren, MiKalah Hawes and Anthony Jadyn Hawes. Three sisters, Marlene Brewer, Angelas Rose, both of Cleveland, OH; Regina Rose McCants of Port St. Lucie, FL; one sister in law, Cetanya Hayes of Poplar Bluff, MO; two brothers, J.B. Hayes of Sikeston, MO; Alfred Vernard Peoples of Cleveland, OH; and a host of nieces , nephews, cousins, and friends.
Family will receive friends Friday April 9, 2021 from 6-8 PM at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church 913 Garfield St. Poplar Bluff, MO The homegoing celebration will begin 12 PM Saturday April 10, 2021 at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church . Burial to follow in City Cemetery.
