Arthur Nelson Obituary


Arthur Nelson, age 64, of Harviell, Mo., died Wednesday, July 10, 2013, in the John Cochran Veteran Hospital, in St. Louis, Mo.

Mr. Nelson was born November 7, 1948, in St. Louis. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart. He worked as a mechanic and auto parts salesman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, auto mechanic, his family and grandkids. He was of the Pentecostal faith and sometimes attended New Life Tabernacle.

On March 20, 1996 he married Donna (Victery) Nelson, in Poplar Bluff. She survives of the home.

Also surviving include his children, Arthur F. Nelson II and wife, Joyce, Amy Gordon and husband, Chris, LaTonya Nelson and fiance', John, Jo Hanna Tarpley and husband, Joshua and David Carter and wife, Brittany; two sisters, Judy Ray and Sharron Chapple; brothers, Joseph Marler, Jimmy Livingston and Johnny Nelson; eleven grandchildren and two additional grandsons, soon to be born; five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by his father, Carmon Nelson and mother, Ellen (Berry) Livingston.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff; followed by a graveside service and burial at 12 noon in the Mo. State Veteran Cemetery, in Bloomfield, Mo. with full military honors. Pastor Larry Sanders and Rev. Jim Hitze will officiate.
