Betty Jo Helvey

Betty Jo Helvey, 98 passed away Saturday, Jan 14, 2023, in St. Peters, MO. Born Feb 26, 1924, in Poplar Bluff, MO. She attended school in Poplar Bluff. She and William A. Helvey married Feb 28, 1942, and had three children. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends. She was an avid quilter, seamstress, camper, and gardener.

Preceding Betty in death were her great uncle, Nathan Weare, and his wife Sarah who raised her, her biological mother, Mary Hesse, her husband of 61 years, William A Helvey, her son Larry D Helvey, and two grandchildren, Larry D Helvey Jr, and Jeffery W. Helvey.

Surviving Betty are her daughter, Judith K Austin and husband Larry of Weldon Spring, MO; son, Paul A Helvey and wife Brenda of Raeford, NC; daughter-in-law, Rosetta Helvey of Houston TX, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 12 PM on Friday, January 20,2023 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar St. Poplar Bluff, MO.   A Graveside service will be held at Brown Chapel Cemetery in Broseley, MO at 2PM
