Bradley Nelson Santos, 33, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., passed away April 22, 2016 at his home.
He was born June 14, 1982 to Luis Santos and Sandra Breckinridge-Cardwell and raised by step-mother Streto Santos.
Brad was a former member of the Butler Co. Sherriff's Dept. and the 1137th Military Police Co. out of Kennett, Mo., where he attained the rank of Sergeant. During his time in the service Brad was deployed to Kosovo in 2003 under Operation Enduring Freedom and on State Emergency Duty in both New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and in Caruthersville after the tornado in 2006.
His federal awards included the National Defense Service Ribbon, Kosovo Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism, Humanitarian Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal W/M Device, Army Service Ribbon, NATO Non Article 5 Medal for the Balkans, as well as numerous state awards.
Mr. Santos is survived by his parents; as well as his children, Dominique Santos, Mariah Santos, and Romeo Nelson Santos; stepsister, Ashley Cardwell and stepbrother, Michael Smalley.
Mr. Santos is preceded in death by a stepbrother, Christopher Smalley.
There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo. with military honors.
