Claude Damewood

Claude Reeve Damewood, 80, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri passed away Thursday August 9, 2012 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Damewood was born May 24, 1932, in Mullens. West Virginia. He formerly lived in Ellsinore, Mo., and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Poplar Bluff.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean Conflict. He was awarded a Combat Medic Badge, U.N. Service Medal, two Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal and a Korean Service Medal.

He had worked as a plastics engineer and enjoyed shooting guns, being with his children, reading, doing jobs around the house.

On July 7, 1956, he was married to Patricia Hall at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, Samuel Damewood and wife, Gloria, of Alamogordo, N.M., Sheila Larson and husband, Dwight, of Minor Hill, Tenn., Nicholas Haskins of Poplar Bluff, Hannah Reasons and husband, Josh, of Poplar Bluff; two grandchildren, Sean Lyle and Ashley Hsie; and two great-grandchildren, Lucas and Lily Reasons.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Staff Sgt. Stacy Haskins; his parents, French Johnson Damewood and Josephine (Worthington) Damewood Williams; a sister, Sally Damewood; and three brothers, French Damewood II, James Damewood and Robert Damewood.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Sunday August 12, 2012 at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo. The funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday August 13, 2012 in the chapel with Josh Reasons, David Stewart and Cal Nations officiating. Burial will full military honors will be in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo.
