David Cooper Fain

June 4, 1972 — September 3, 2022

Poplar Bluff

David Cooper Fain, age 50, passed away early Saturday, September 3, 2022, at his home in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

David was born June 4, 1972, in St. Louis, to the late Charles and Roberta Fain. When David was 5, the family moved back home to Southeast Missouri where they lived happily. As a young man, David enjoyed playing baseball, perfecting a fastball and a side arm slider. His love for music soon took over and he eventually joined Lordchain, a local Christian metal band. David played bass and did backing vocals for the band for 10 years, traveling around the country, opening for acts like Tourniquet, and putting out several albums. After he left the band to focus on his family, he started making digital art. Cars, knights, and castles were common themes in his work, which he shared on deviantart.com as Scifigiant. David loved the writings of David Eddings, the music of Dream Theater, and the sci-fi of Gene Roddenberry. He also loved role-playing video games, particularly Final Fantasy and Elder Scrolls. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Kathy Fain.

David had a wonderful sense of humor, and his silliness will be deeply missed - as well as his intellect and interesting conversations. He is the beloved husband of Kathleen (née Cawley) Fain; loving father of Nathanael Fain; adored brother of Daniel Fain, Judith (Alan) Davis, Timothy (Christie) Fain; cherished uncle to Bethany (Mark) Miller, Brittany Fain, Ravyn Still, Carrie (Jacob) Davis-Hansson, Charles Fain, Micah Fain, Jeremy Fain, Caleb Fain, Hayden Fain, and Kaitlyn Fain.

A celebration of life for David will be held on Saturday, September 10, at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles at 1400 South Broadway Street in Poplar Bluff. It will be a drop-in celebration from 1:00-4:00 pm. Come as you are and stay as long as you like.
