Dean Eugene Potts, 89, of Poplar Bluff, MO passed away on February 20, 2020 at his home in Poplar Bluff.
Dean was born on June 16, 1930 to the late Vincent and Olga (Miller) Potts in Mt. Morris, Michigan. He married Connie Highfill on March 2, 1963.
Dean served in the United States Army from 1953-1955 in Knoxville, KY as a lab technician. Upon release he chose to work as a maintenance electrician at Hurley Hospital in Flint, MI. He later started his own electrical company. He and Connie then moved to Sikeston, Mo in 1971 and he worked as an electrician at Purolator Products in Dexter until his retirement in 1995. He then worked as a Master Electrician in his own business until August 2019. Upon moving to Poplar Bluff in 1985, they became charter members of Westwood Baptist Church where he served as a bus worker, usher, teacher and deacon.
Surviving are spouse, Connie, daughters, Deana (Barry) Newton of Ellsinore; Darla Keene of Poplar Bluff; Donna (Steve) Thornburgh of Clarksville, TN; Diana (Neal) DeSpain of Campbell; Daona Parker of Poplar Bluff; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren. From a previous marriage, daughter, Bonnie Petty of Santa Rosa, CA; Jerry Potts of Fairbanks, AK; Jeffrey Potts of Montrose, MI, 5 grandchildren, sisters, Norma Carpenter of Draco, AR and Ruth Williams of Frankenmuth, MI.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents and twin brother; Dale Potts.
A memorial visitation will be held at Westwood Baptist Church 419 CR 5231 from 6 pm to 7:30 pm Tuesday, February 25, 2020. A memorial service will begin at 7:30 pm with Dr. Steve Proctor officiating.
