Jeanne Alene Myrant Garrett was born on July 17, 1946, at Fort Riley, Kansas to Robert (Bob) and Edith Myrant. She died on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2023, at her home in Poplar Bluff, Missouri surrounded by friends and family.
In her early years, she lived at several different army posts and cities where her father was active-duty army and later served as advisor to the National Guard Units. Poplar Bluff was always home base for Jeanne.
On July 3, 1966, she was united in marriage to Gerald E. Garrett, who preceded her in death on June 20, 2000. To this union was born one son, Rev. William (Bill) Garrett of Lebanon. Bill blessed them with a wife, Lisa, and two grandchildren, Robert Myrant Garrett of Lebanon and Faith Garrett of Poplar Bluff.
She also leaves behind one special cousin, who was more like a sister, Wanda (John) Lohmeier and their children, David Lohmeier, Cindy Moore, Michael Lohmeier, and their children of Michigan. Also, a special friend who was considered part of the family, Debbie Trout.
Jeanne was an active and faithful member and servant of Temple Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff.
Equally important to her was her volunteer jobs. She was secretary/treasurer of the MoArk Regional Railroad Museum. She previously had served on the Senior Citizen Tax Committee, Community Resource Council, Poplar Bluff Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, RSVP Program, and also volunteered at the Twin Towers Dining Room. When her son was young, she was also a Cub Scout Den Mother and active member of the PTA.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the MoArk Regional Railroad Museum or the PB Fire Department Scholarship Fund.
All services will be held at Temple Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2023, and funeral at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023. Burial will be in New Oak Hill Cemetery.
