Laura Alice Greco

Laura Alice (DeGaris) Greco, 69 of Poplar Bluff, Mo. joined her loved ones

already in heaven on Sept. 7, 2021 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Alice was born August, 1952 in Malden, Mo. to Betty Bettin DeGaris and

Edwin DeGaris.

She is survived by daughters, Bridgette Stegall (Joe), North Carolina and

Alicia Collins, Poplar Bluff; Eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren;

One brother, Edwin DeGaris (Lisa) Poplar Bluff, and two sisters Mary Raper

(Vernon) Oxley, and Annette Harris (Steve) Poplar Bluff. Nine nieces and

nephews and 14 great-nieces and nephews. Alice had 5 special friends she

considered family, Dollie Markham (Grayson), Margaret Tipton (Robert), and

James Schaefer of Poplar Bluff, Art Ward Jr of Poplar Bluff and Sarah Johnson of Corning, Ark. Alice was

considered as ‘Mama’ to many others that she claimed and loved as her own.

Alice enjoyed cooking, and watching every ballgame she could, especially the

Cardinals. She never met a stranger, often giving more than she had to help

others. She had 24 years of sobriety and she loved to give her testimony to help

other addicts. She wasn’t ashamed of her past and she considered it a gift she

was given to help her share about Jesus. She was a long time member of Grace

Christian Fellowship Congregation.

Alice was preceded in death by her son, Ryan (Twinkie) Elwell, one sister

Elizabeth (Betty) Grun, her mother Betty Bettin DeGaris, father Edwin DeGaris,

and Stepfather, Richard (Pops) Bettin. We are comforted, knowing she is

joyously celebrating reunion with so many loved ones who’ve gone before.

A Celebration of Life service will be held, 3:00pm, Friday, Sept 17, 2021 at

Grace Christian Fellowship, 3200 Warrior Lane, Poplar Bluff, MO 63901.
