Leona Gunter

Leona M. Gunter, age 81, passed away on Saturday March 6, 2021. Leona was born on May 20, 1939 in Poplar Bluff, MO. At a young age she began her journey working for the Blakeney Dairy of Poplar Bluff, a family business, and moved on to be a medical transcriptionist in her adult life. Leona retired early to take care and watch over her kids and grandkids. She enjoyed crocheting many adorable items for family and friends but is mostly known for her many recipes and baked treats, especially her famous peanut brittle. She was a mess to the very end and will be dearly missed by all the ones she touched. To the BEST MOM in the world, you will always be with us.

Leona is preceded in death by her parents: Thomas and Lois Blakeney; brother: Jim Blakeney; son: Jimmy Gunter and daughter: Tammy Casteel. Leona is survived by brother: Tom Blakeney; sons: Cecil (Angie) Gunter, John (Lisa) Gunter and Scott (Joanne) Gunter; granddaughters: Kayleigh (Timmy) Abner, Taylor (Christian Earwood) Collin, Madison Gunter; grandson: Colin Gunter; great granddaughters: Zhoey Abner and Riley Earwood; great grandson: Brycen Abner.

 A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday March 17th, 2021at 2:00pm in the  Poplar Bluff City Cemetery with Thomas Keene officiating
