Matthew Britton Obituary

 Matthew Britton Jr., left to be with the Lord on July 23, 2021 at 9:33 p.m. at the University of Missouri Hospital Medical Center, Columbia, Missouri. Matthew was born December 27, 1960 to Rosie Lee and Matthew Britton, Sr., in

 Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He united in marriage with Patricia Ann Williams on August 15, 1981. They enjoyed a loving marriage. 

He confessed his faith in Christ at an early age under the pastorship of Rev Bell Boyce at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. He served as a deacon at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church and True Believers Baptist Church.   

He was ordained as a Minister under Rev. Johnny Williams and served as pastor at Living Word Assembly of God.  He focused on his passion of  Community Outreach Service, he worked as a Youth Counselor at W.E. Sears Youth

Center and earned an associate’s degree from Okmulgee Technical College in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.

Matthew truly loved the Lord. He was a walking miracle as his journey in this life far exceeded expectations. He gave thanks to God each and every day as he pushed through an enormous amount of physical pain. Matthew lived  

life with determination and is an example of encouragement to anyone in overcoming life challenges.

In addition to loving the Lord, he was an active writer and poet; he published a children’s book and loved photography. He had a unique style and loved hats. Matthew had a delightful sense of humor and loved to laugh and

enjoyed socializing with family and friends.  

He leaves to honor his memory and legacy his mother, Rosie Lee Britton-Ball; two sons, Matthew Britton III of Columbia, Missouri; Micheal Bryant Britton of Columbia, Missouri; two daughters, LaShonda Patrice Britton of Columbia, Missouri; Shannon  Nicole Harris (Kengi); two adopted children, David Youngblood and Sadie Youngblood; one brother, Bruce Bernard Britton (Ella) of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; three sisters, Alzina Britton of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; Allean Britton of Puyallup,  Washington; Callean Britton of Bloomington, Illinoisand a hosts of grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Britton; father Matthew Britton Sr.,and stepfather Wilbert Ball.

Visitation will be at 11 a.m.- noon Saturday July 31 at Fowler Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. The funeral will be immediately after at noon at Fowler Sullivan Funeral Home. The eulogy will be delivered by Rev. Carl Williams. Interment will be at the Poplar Bluff Cemetery.

Repass will be held at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church immediately following the funeral service.
