Monica Benson

Monica Demitta Jo Benson, 57, was called home on October 20, 2021.

Monica was born on November 4, 1963 to James Miller and Helen Ellis in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Staying in her hometown Monica built a life and found love with  Bruce Wayne Benson Sr.  Married February 23,1998 their love stood strong for twenty-three years.

Monica attended Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church.  Devoted and happy she retired after a 30 year career with Wal-Mart Supercenter in Poplar Bluff.  She enjoyed her children and grandchildren.  She was always ready for the next adventure and picture with a smile to outshine the sun.  Her joy of life touched everyone.

Monica leaves to cherish her legacy her mother Helen Ellis, her  children; Moenika Ellis, Kevin Surratt, Tameika Benson, Nakia Benson, Alex McCain, Bruce Benson Jr., Sandra (Kevin) Mitchem, Brittany Miller and Marquise Benson, siblings; John Ellis, Pamela Hubrins, Kevin Ellis; 14 grandchildren 1 great grandchild and a host of family and friends.  And all the Benson family who were always there for her.

Monica was preceded in death by her father and husband.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 27,2021  from10am to 12pm at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, MO.

Funeral services will begin at noon with Rev. Anthony Williams officiating.   Burial will take place at Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
