Robert Hastings Sr.

Robert Hastings Sr,  89, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. passed away on July 01, 2022, at Beaufort Nursing and Rehab  (Bayview) in Beaufort, South Carolina. Robert was born on December 1,1932, to Fred and Mary Kaffenberger Hastings in Rombauer, Missouri.  He married Edna Fann on August 28,1954, in Hernando, MS. She preceded him in death. They were married for 57 years. Robert  was a retired jet engine mechanic in the United States Air Force. He enjoyed photography, visiting wildlife refuges, and woodworking. He was an avid bluebird house builder, supplying over 3000 houses to the residents of Poplar Bluff. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing and hunting. Robert is survived by four children; Rancy Hastings and wife Sandy of St.Louis MO, Debbie Hooks and husband Dennis of Ash NC, Robert Hastings Jr. and wife Roxie of Rincon GA, and Julie Kirkley and husband Rick of Poplar Bluff MO. Five grandsons; Robert Hastings III and wife Maggie of Cummings GA, Shannon Hastings and wife Shera of Martin GA, Sean Hastings of Rincon GA, Ryan Hastings and wife Tracy of Clawson MI, and Matthew Kirkley of Poplar Bluff MO.  Two great grandsons; Tyler Hastings of Cummings GA,  and Shannon Hastings Jr. of Martin GA. Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by five siblings; James, Fred, Ellen, Helen Venable, and Pansy Maize as well as one great grandson, Robert Hasting IV. Visitation will be held on July 11, 2022, at 9 am at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. Funeral services will follow at 10 am in the Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Donny Emmons officiating, burial will follow in the Rombauer Cemetery in Rombauer MO.
