Verna Whitmer Obituary


Verna Norene Whitmer departed this life on Sunday, June 27, 2010 at her residence at the age of 68. Mrs. Whitmer was born Dec. 14, 1941, in Butler Co. She was a lifelong resident of Butler County and a member of Stringtown Baptist Church. She was a homemaker who enjoyed reading, flowers and watching animals.

She married Robert C. Whitmer on March 3, 1959, in Butler Co. He preceded her in death on November 15, 1994.

Survivors include; three daughters, Anita Hupp and husband, Randy, Donna Franklin and husband, Shawn, and Edith Hastings and fiance' Doug Redwine all of Poplar Bluff; one son, Bobby Whitmer and wife, Rhonda of Opelika, Ala.; one sister, Ruth Whitmer of Poplar Bluff; six brothers, Kenneth Davis, Johnny Davis of Fairdealing, Mo. Clyde Davis, Stanley Davis,Dennis Davis and Paul Davis, all of Poplar Bluff; four grandchildren, Amber Young and husband, Steven, Ashley Amoro and husband, Jason, Todd Whitmer and Nathan Hastings; and two great-grandchildren, Hayden Fisher Allen Young and Sierra Amoro.

She also was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lillian Koonce Davis.

Visitation Tues. June 29, 2010 6-8 p.m. and funeral services Wed. June 30, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar Street, Poplar Bluff, Mo. Officiated by Shelvie Stevens. Burial in the Bay Springs Cemetery.
