Willie Paul Hayes Wynn was born on May 5, 1950 to Ella Pearl Wynn and James Hayes in Covington, TN. Both parents preceded him in death.
Willie Paul was educated in the school system in Covington. He graduated from Frazier High school in 1969. Throughout his early years of life, he enjoyed playing basketball and fishing. He always enjoyed spending time with his family.
He made several attempts to start a local band. Willie Paul became a father in 1968 when his first son Paul Lavelle was born. Willie Paul was inducted in the United States Army on January 21,1970. He served in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on June 11,1971. After leaving the service, Willie Paul relocated to Saint Louis, Missouri where he met and married Gladys Whitehorn. Three children were born to this union, Curtis, Eric and Carla. Curtis preceded his father in death. Willie Paul was baptized on April 3, 1988 at the Living Word Church in Saint Louis, Missouri.
He worked for a short period at Cupples Rubber Company. He spent many years as a bus driver for the Bi-State Bus company in Saint Louis, Missouri until his retirement.
As Willie's health began to deteriorate he was relocated to Poplar Bluff, Missouri to live with his daughter during his last days on earth. Willie Paul departed this life on Thursday, August 15,2019 at 9:34 pm.
He leaves to cherish his memories; two sons Paul (LaTonya Boyd) Williams of Covington, TN Eric (Trina) Whitehorn of Springfield, Missouri, one daughter Carla Hayes of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Six granddaughters; Deo'Jinay Wofford, Kiarra Brown, Princes Bowdery, Paula Smith, Paulette Williiams, Paris Paulandria Chanelle Williams. Three grandsons; Tyran Toseburrow, Cody Marks Jr. and Antonio Whitehorn. One great-granddaughter NeVeha Boyer, two great-grandsons Khai Marion Marks and Kaiden Williams. Two sisters Laverne Hayes of Covington, TN, Margaret Hayes of Milwaukee, WI; one brother Preston Hayes of Boston, MA; one step brother James (JoAnn) Bonds of Saint Louis, Missouri, one niece Angela Hayes of Covington, TN one aunt; Hattie Avery of Saint Louis, Missouri and a host of cousins and friends.
Visitation will be from 11 am to 12 pm at Loving Jesus Ministries in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Funeral services will follow at 12 pm in the church. Burial with full military honors will be at 2 pm at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri
